Based on Jean Poiret's French play of the same name, La Cage aux Folles is a musical with lyrics and music by Jerry Herman and book by Harvey Fierstein. The show first opened on Broadway in 1983. The story focuses on a gay couple: Georges, the manager of a nightclub featuring drag entertainment, and his star attraction and romantic partner, Albin. The Broadway production was nominated for nine Tony Awards, winning six. The 2010 reboot won Best Revival of a Musical, an honor it won in 2004 as well, making it the only musical to win twice.
