MercyMe, the American contemporary Christian band founded in Greenville, Texas, consists of Bart Millard, James Bryson, Robin Shaffer, Nathan Cochran, Michael Scheuchzer and Barry Graul. Forming in 1994, the band has released six independent albums. They gained mainstream recognition with the crossover single, "I Can Only Imagine," which elevated their debut album, Almost There, to double platinum status. They have had 22 #1 songs, six of which ranked in top 50 songs of the decade in their genre.
