Stone Temple Pilots, often known as STP, is an American rock band which blends modern alternative rock and hard rock of the 1970s to create its own brand of arena rock. They started off playing in San Diego clubs, steering clear of the L.A. corporate music scene. The band has seen its share of critical and commercial success, picking up a Grammy in 1994 for Best Hard Rock Performance for their song "Plush," and being one of the best-selling rock acts of the 1990s. They have had 16 singles on the Billboard rock charts, including eight #1s. The band released its sixth album, Stone Temple Pilots, in 2010.
